What however, does the Actor / Senator / Actor / political sherpa have to say about Dick Cheney ordering the Strategic Command (STRATCOM) to prepare contingency plans for a conventional and tactical nuclear strike against hundreds of targets in Iran, in the event of a "new 9/11-style attack" on the United States? The Bush Administration, under CONPLAN 8022, has already placed the relevant "mini-nukes" under the control of theater military commanders, as part of a new Global Strike doctrine, a doctrine originally conceived when Dick Cheney was Secretary of Defense under George H.W. Bush in the early 1990s.

All this as President Bush heads to Crawford Texas for 6 weeks...

Before Colin Powell fell out of favor, he went on Meet The Press to warn the World that if any country attempted to take out an American city, "We will end your way of life." Perhaps the last statement of America's supreme ability to annihilate backing up our word that we would never strike first, this doctrine appears to have changed as easily as replacing those who believed in it and the ideals it represented.

He was dead serious, and obviously prepared to lose an American city.

Five years later, where will Colin Powell be during the month of August - Or Fred Thompson for that matter?

August may pass but Fred's line from RED OCTOBER will probably stay with us for awhile: "This business will get out of control. It will get out of control, and we'll be lucky to live through it."
